Rachel Shillander is an artist and architect with a decades long architecture practice focused on domestic design, construction, and building technology. Through the objectification of architectural concepts, her works explore intangible ideas of Ethics, memory, place, time, personal relationships, and the human condition. By using familiar materials, forms, and traditional building systems, these abstract concepts are turned into accessible scale, semi-functional maquettes. She was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California where she currently lives, works, and practices.
